Welcome to Carcasscade!
The premise of the game is rather simple. You take control of a robed wanderer, on his way to the top of the castle, filled with dreams of taking the throne for himself.
However, it's likely he won't make it, for the road is filled with perils. He will leave his body behind in a pit full of spikes, or get killed by one of the castle's traps.
Luckily, for every wanderer killed, a new will come, hoping that you can guide him towards his goal. Each of the bodies that will pile up, will make for a convenient platform, and will stay there forever, waiting to be used as a stepping stone.
Find secret passages, unlock shortcuts and explore the open world. Soon you will find that the castle may not be the only place worth dying for. How many bodies will you pile up, just to reach the top of the world?

This game was made for GLJ Game Parade Fall 2021, following the theme "Leave Something Behind".
Update 1.2:
-Now fully playable from the comfort of your browser.
-Fixed the bug where sometimes new game button would do nothing. The one in the browser version of the game should work without a flaw. The one in downloadable version still remains as it was, as to no reset trophies, but if it doesn't work for you the first time you start the game, please use the "Debug force start new game" button in the corner. After pressing it once, both New Game and Load game buttons will work.
-Adjusted some awkward camera transitions, now it should move smoother.
-Fixed the bug where umberella left behind in the tower would cause spike balls to pile up.
-You can no longer access the out of bounds area with glitched music in the cave by using the umberella.
-Made it easier to exit the easter egg area (if you know, you know).
Small footnote, this is my first time taking a part in a Game Jam, as well as my first finished game. I have been working with Unity for almost a year now, but this is the first time that any of my creations gets to see the light of day.
When I started working on the project a week ago, i had it planned as something much bigger, but time soon showed me how things really are. Big thanks to my girlfriend Anna, who worked just as hard with background and cover art.
I wanted to link her artist Twitter here, but she expicitely told me not to do it. Looks like her online persona will remain a mystery for the time being.

Excellent Game. a brutal challenge; left feeling satisfied.
One random lil bug: if you die by falling off of the cliff to the left of the start position, the coins (presumably 1 coin) collected on that run don't reappear, and the player spawns in a slightly different position than before.
I think there's A bug since i cannot interact with the new game button in the main menu.
Hello! Thank you for your feedback. I have tried to fix this bug. Currently, in the browser version new game button should work without a flaw, but it will also reset all the trophies, i couldn't find a way to get past it :/ In the downloadable version, i added a button in the corner that will force new game to start normally, but will reset the achivements. After pressing it once, both new game and load game buttons should work fine.
